  When: the times
   by Giorgio

During the first half of the 70s Dario Nobili held the position of Research Director at the LAMEL-CNR Institute, one of the many institutes created at the end of the 60s to promote scientific research. We asked him a few questions on how people felt working in the field of research then and how different he sees the situation of today. Here are the answers.

Q. How do those years look wrt scientific endeavour ?

Q. Is there anything from those years you particularly regret losing, aside from youth ?

Q. Do you believe that the way things are now it would still be possible to perform an experiment like the the most beautiful one ?

We posed a similar question to Giulio Pozzi, who since that time conducts his research activity in the Dept. of Physics of the University of Bologna. Interestingly enough, the tone of his answer is considerably different. This is the results of the differences which distinguished at that time the CNR, to which great human and financial resources had been granted, and which had therefore seen the creation of new laboratories, and the universities, grappling with the lack of resources then as it is now.

Q. How do those years look wrt scientific endeavour ?
