The one concerning light is the “classical” two slit experiment, which was first realized by Thomas Young in 1803, the fifth experiment in the list of the Physics World’ s most beautiful ten. The historical importance of Young’s achievement lies in the fact that he gave a convincing experimental proof of the wavelike nature of light.
